From CR member sootedup: "Awesemo
is erm..... awesome.
Decided to go to Alex for coaching as I saw on his blog that he has
started to crush the low stakes games. I figured he'd be well tuned in
with the post Black Friday games, at the levels that I play.
He was actually a lot better than I expected. He was very well
prepared, and before our first session we'd already exchanged a bunch of
emails of some HEM screenshots, and his suggestions of what to work on
first from weaknesses he suspected I had. He was ready from the get go
on our first session with hand examples that he'd played, to get me to
understand the reasoning behind the different lines he wanted me to take
to correct my mistakes. I ask a lot of questions and probably talk too
much, but I am very satisfied with with his ability to answer everything
well and leave me with a better understanding of the situation. Even
though most of us poker players can overthink situations, he has a knack
of explaining things in the simplest yet most effective ways.
He's very generous with his time away from sessions, and has
answered countless questions via email and skype. He's not a clock
watcher and always on time. He messages me to see how I'm getting on and
is just a cool guy!
I used to teach so I know what makes a good teacher. Nothing
substitutes a hell of a lot of hard work, but his knowledge of what it
takes to crush his stakes sure makes life a lot easier."
From my friend Walt Pfister: "Alex Baker has definitely helped me with my game. Although I was beyond the basics and fundamentals, he helped tweak my game in certain areas that improved my win rate. He was very understanding and inquired to every move I made, challenged me to understand the reason for every decision I would make (large or small) and gave my game a general confidence. His guidance was akin to a captain and not the motor; not powering me but to gently navigating me in right direction. After all, we need all need somewhere to go."
